Either way, whether or not Sibelius or a different program is a subscription service or flat-out purchase isn't a big factor as you said it's just the direction pro software is moving in.ДЇor me it's mostly a serious hobby but I did major in music and am able to monetize a little. I have no idea though, which probably sounds a bit crazy but I just need to check. own it, which is probably a relic of having purchased v4 outright and upgrading each time, or possibly that I stopped at 7 and not 7.5. I don't think I actually have a yearly subscription on Sibelius, just. Your notation software is up to personal preference. TLDR: NotePerformer is way better than GPO with Sibelius. It's not quite at the level of the other two yet, but with some time I believe it will become the standard. Actually, if you already own Sibelius, I think a better investment would be to save your money and keep an eye on Dorico.

I've always thought Sibelius was much nicer and made more important things much easier, and I can finish projects much more quickly as opposed to Finale.

Sibelius and Finale both do the same things, it's just a matter of which one is more intuitive for you. It is certainly not dead as everyone thought it would be several years ago. Sibelius is getting infrequent updates, but it works great 98% percent of the time. If you're using the software professionally to make an income, it becomes a relatively painless business expense. The yearly subscription for Sibelius sucks, but that's the direction that pro software is moving in (Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office). I have heard of some people trying to use the Garritan Finale sounds with Sibelius, but that would involve creating your own soundset for it, and imo the time investment for that is not worth the result.ДЄs far as switching from Sibelius to Finale, it's really up to your own preference. GPO5 (the latest version) does not have a Sibelius soundset to my knowledge, so you'd have to use GPO4. NotePerformer will be miles ahead of what you can easily get out of GPO through Sibelius. (Yes, I realize how much Finale costs and I'm worrying about $129-50 for NotePerformer, but it's a different investment.) I'm mostly concerned with whatever the hell is going on with Avid and the relative lack of updates, etc., but I can't pretend to really know what the store is with Finale right now.Д®TA: Side question, can GPO as comes bundled with Finale be plugged in to Sibelius? I can see it going either way. I know GPO at least came with Finale at one time-idk if it still does- and part of me is thinking about switching. The next question is actually a little bigger, and that's for people who use/have used both Finale and Sibelius. The first obvious question is what people think about one vs. I didn't realize that Garritan Personal Orchestra was only about $150, though, and you can find it for less at times at certain places. I've been using the trial version of NotePerformer for a while, but need the ability to export sound files and can't afford much more than the $129 NotePerformer costs.
